Christingle - The light shines in the darkness

Anthony Davis

On Sunday we held a fabulous Christingle Messy Church, followed by our Christingle Service in Church. Thank you so much to all who helped make both of these possible.

During the service, which marks the real start to Christmas for lots of families, we raised money for The Children's Society to help fund their work to transform the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect.

We also talked about the symbolism of the Christingle, helped by a giant orange who just happened to be wandering by at the right moment:

Jesus was so full of love that death couldn’t hold onto him. Jesus didn’t stay dead, he was resurrected back into a new life, a life with God, full of love and light and good things. But Jesus didn’t do that just for himself, oh no, he did it so that all the dark and difficult things in our lives can be turned inside out and become full of love and light. And that is the story our Christingle tells.
