Christenings

Start an amazing journey...

During their Christening, your child will be baptised with water. It’s the start of an amazing journey of faith for your child and a special day for all your friends and family. Baptism is a visible sign of God’s love. At a Christening, we are thanking God for the gift of life and preparing a child for their life ahead.

To find out more, please call Lucy, our vicar on 01234 354234. or email using the link below being sure to leave a contact telephone number.

Further information about Christenings and the service itself may be found at Church of England Christenings

How Does It Work?

Christenings are held on Sundays either in the main 10 am service or separately at 11.30pm. Before we set a date, we will ask you to come along at worship with us one Sunday, so you can meet the new family your child will be joining!

One of the Ministry Team will then come and visit you at home to talk through the service.

Following the Christening itself, you will be  invited to attend an all age service on the first Sunday of the month, where the whole church family will have the chance to welcome your little one and you’ll receive your Christening cards.

How Much Will it Cost?

There are no fees for Christenings – God’s love is free. However, if you felt able to make a donation to help the ministry of the Church, we would be most grateful. If you would like hymns at the service, there is a charge for the organist.

Who Can Be Christened Here?

Anyone! If you live in the parish or have strong connections to the Church here, we would be delighted to have a Christening service for you. As parents, you don’t have to be Christened yourself to bring your child for Christening.  And you don’t have to be a baby – Baptism is for anyone of any age who wants to begin or take another step on their faith journey.
